Public schools are part of who I am.

And I believe they’re worth fighting for.

I’m Sarah Dille—a lifelong educator, AISD parent, and candidate for Austin ISD Board of Trustees, District 6.

I’m running to be a strong, thoughtful voice for the students, educators, families, and public schools of our community.

Rooted in
Public Education.

I am about as much a product of public schools as a person can be.

A school photographer first snapped my picture when I was six months old, sitting on the lap of my very proud father, a kindergarten teacher who brought me along for picture day. My mother became a teacher when I was in middle school, and almost every one of my aunts and uncles was a teacher or a principal.

I grew up with teachers, secretaries, administrators, and custodians as my extended family.

It makes sense that I became a teacher and have now been in education myself for 26 years. I taught high school English for 16 of those years, 11 of them at Crockett High School. In 2013 I won Teacher of the Year for Austin ISD. I worked for AISD as a Technology Design Coach, supporting teachers across south Austin in enacting their visions for their students. And now I teach future teachers at The University of Texas at Austin. Throughout my career, I have centered the voices of students and highlighted the professionalism of teachers.

My children are the product of Austin Public Schools. One just graduated and is heading off to college, prepared and excited for what is next.  The other is a current sophomore. Both of my children have benefitted from the amazing teachers and programs that AISD offers. And both of them are excited for me to offer my expertise to a wider community. They joke that teaching is both my career and my hobby.

I'm running for the Austin ISD Board of Trustees because I want to put that lifetime of experience to work for our students, our educators, and our public schools.

Strong schools start here.

LISTEN

Schools work best when we listen to the people inside them.

Teachers, staff, students, and families experience our schools every day. Sarah will make sure their voices—and the needs of District 6—are heard when decisions are made.

SUPPORT

Give educators and students what they need to succeed.

Great public schools depend on great people. Sarah will advocate for strong classrooms, supported educators, responsible use of district resources, and opportunities for every student to thrive.

PROTECT

Public schools are worth fighting for.

Austin’s public schools belong to all of us. Sarah will stand up for strong neighborhood schools, responsible public education funding, and an AISD that remains a vital part of our community.
